Gear up where the trails start

Pittsburg sits at the top of more than 1,000 miles of interconnected ATV and side-by-side trail. We ride them, we rent on them, and we stock the shop for them — which means what's on this page is what we'd put on ourselves before heading out.

Head protection comes from 509 and LS2: full-face offroad helmets built for dust, rocks and the long day on the Ride the Wilds network. Pair them with Kingpin and Moose Racing goggles, anti-fog and a visor cleaner, because the North Country doesn't do half-day weather. 509's Low 5 and 4 Low gloves give you grip without the bulk; KLIM liners go under them on cold mornings. For rain — and up here, plan on rain — Thor and Frogg Toggs suits pack small and keep you riding.

Then the part most gear pages skip. Our 2026 Bear Rock ATV Map and the Great North Woods Riders club map, because a paper map still works where the phone doesn't. Amsoil ATV/UTV oil, coolant and brake fluid. Kenda and Hercules tires in the sizes the local fleet runs. Tow straps, gas cans and Fix-A-Flat for the thing that happens to someone every weekend.
